Concert Cushion® and Concert Towel®

For more stability and comfort in positioning the guitar

These accessories prevent the guitar from sliding at the contact points with the legs, giving comfort and stability in positioning the guitar.

Guitarists confirm that through the use of the concert cushion,
they developed a new and more effective concept of body posture and how to positioning the guitar.

The body no longer rests on the guitar, thus avoiding putting weight on the leg.
The result is greater relaxation and lightness in performance.

New Model!

The Concert Cushion and Concert Towel have now a new model
manufactured in synthetic suede of fine visual
and with additional layers of synthetic latex for better grip.
This model replaces our previous model.

Cushion
Concert Cushion® 4 with long flap

The Concert Cushion® of Matepis Produtos Musicais is based on an idea by the Uruguayan Guitarist Abel Carlevaro,
given to the public domain in his "Escuela de la Guitarra".
The Concert Cushion® size 1 (3 cm = 1.2 in high)
is the model which better corresponds to the original idea of Carlevaro.

The cushion allows a better adaptation of the guitar to the left leg
and offers therefore more comfort in positioning the instrument.

Further, it elevates the height level for resting the guitar on the left leg, allowing:
a) better positioning and performance of the right hand above the 12th fret, as well
b) a reduction in the height of a foot stand or even dispense with it (beginning with size 3),
contributing to an improvement of the guitarist's body posture.

The Concert Cushion® is provided with side flaps,
which have basically the purpose to prevent it from slipping from the leg.

We offer the Concert Towel® and the Concert Cushion® in the following models and combinations:

Set of Concert Cushion® + Concert Towel®

Concert Cushion® with long flap

Set of Two Concert Towel®

Long Concert Towel®

Concert Cushion 1 + Concert Towel
Concert Cushion 1 + Concert Towel
Concert Cushion 2 with long flap
Concert Cushion® 2 with long flap
Concert Cushion 4 + Concert Towel
Concert Cushion 4 + Concert Towel

The Concert Cushion is used together with a Towel for the right leg.

In the case of the Concert Cushion with a long flap, one of the flaps has been lengthened (to 67 cm = 26.4 in),
in order to extend to the other leg, replacing the Towel.

The Concert Cushion with long flap is an alternative to the set of two-pieces.
The preference for either model is due to reasons related to individual taste.

Both - the set of two-pieces as well the model with a long flap -
meet the requirements of stability and comfort in positioning the guitar.

The Cushion Concert with long flap (or the long Concert Towel) is often
preferred due to its practicality, as it is considered easier to deal with a single piece,
particularly in shows and concerts.

Furthermore, it is emphasized that the long piece does not fall easily from the leg
and is not easily forgotten when one stands up.

Using a Set of two Concert Towels® or the Long Concert Towel®,
the part applied to the left leg can replace the cushion or also be used
as a surface for any support accessories, so that these do not slide during a performance.

The Concert Cushions® are available in the following sizes, which only differ in height:

How to choose the individual height of the Concert Cushion

To choose the height of your individual Cushion (if you want to replace the foot stool),
lift the guitar to the desired height and measure with a ruler
the distance between the guitar side (small guitar curve) and your left leg.
The Cushion height that is closest to the measurement then will be the most approprate.

Note: The height of the stool does not match the height of the cushion that will replace it.
This could only be true if the guitar was supported exactly at the knee.
If the guitar rests next to the body, the height needed for the cushion will be much lower.

Concert Cushion® 2 with long flap®

Concert Cushion® 4 + Concert Towel®

Concert Cushion® 5 with long flap

The products are manufactured with a fine black suede,
composed of 95% polyester and 5% viscose, additionally with two layers of synthetic latex,
which prevent the guitar from sliding at the contact points with the legs.

These products are 90% made by hand, piece by piece.

The inner material is foam (FPF) of high density and stable shape.

Suggestion for the use of the Concert Cushion size 4, 5 and 6:

Because of the greater height of the Cushion sizes 4, 5 and 6,
greater stability in positioning may depend on individual placement of the instrument on the surface of the Cushion.

Thus it was found that, for greater stability, in most cases, it is necessary to position the cushion
a little more forward (toward the knee), so that the guitar can rest on its anterior part,
i.e. by the side closest to the body, as shown in the picture above.

Note: In the form of a hexahedron, the foam of the Concert Cushion®, due to its inherent flexibility and elasticity,
adapts to the curves of the guitar and the leg, when in the play position, giving it the necessary stability.
For this reason it isn't necessary to make its edges or base round
in order to follow the shape of the instrument and the leg.
